That's the number of days since I wrote my last entry. When I decided to have a new blog, I originally promised myself to write as often as I can. However, certain events, though important and fun, have a way of making you forget.
So what has happened since then?
First there was the documentation and planning considering that I had to accommodate 15 students who took their on-the-job training with UP Cebu. Coming up and assigning projects is not as easy as it seems. The good news is that they all performed really well. I'm only waiting for the reports and the deployment of the different projects. Accepting OJT though made me see now that it would signal the start of a very busy summer.
About a week later, I met with the faculty members of the four different clusters of UP Cebu, separately. This was to orient them on the eUP project as well as the Acceptable Use Policy of the university. It was a wonderful learning experience for me. Different clusters came up with different questions which made me see everything in a whole different light.
Then there was the preparations for the graduation. In UP Cebu, the usual practice is that after graduation, the faculty members take a leave to "recharge." Such was not the case for me. For a week later it was off to Camiguin.
No, I was not going there to relax but to assist faculty members of the Biology Program, as well as the students, in their Bio 160 course or Field Bio. During this period I also learned a lot of new things. Not only with how field study was conducted but the different individuals that joined the trip.
Case in point: Prof. Cadiz really loves her iPhone. Prof. Cortes would make a really good manager. Prof Olvis really adores field work. Best of all, Sir Ben has a cheesy playlist.
For the student side, Nico and Agnes for example really work hard. Patty and Kathleen know how to manage money very well. Yvette and Chinee know how to make good conversation. I could mention a lot more but it would take up most of the space.
After arriving back to Cebu, I had to again prepare to leave for UP Diliman for a training. It was a three-day training and I was the lone representative from our unit. As with everything else that had already happened it was again fun and a learning experience. Learned new techniques in teaching and met new people.
The climax of the summer was of course the wedding of our very own Miss (now Madam) Eukene. The gown was beautiful but Eukene even more so.
A little bit of rest and suddenly it was enrollment.
Fruitful summer? Indeed. Now it's back to the classroom for more fun.
